In the ever-evolving landscape of behavioral health and addiction treatment, professionals often encounter resistance that challenges traditional therapeutic approaches. "Be Like Water" draws inspiration from Bruce Lee's philosophy of adaptability to present an innovative framework for working with resistant patients, particularly those involved in the criminal justice system.

This presentation equips providers, peers, and counselors with practical strategies to navigate treatment resistance while addressing criminogenic needs. Participants will learn to effectively utilize the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria to ensure appropriate levels of care, allowing for more personalized and effective treatment planning.

By exploring harm reduction philosophies and examining personal biases and expectations, attendees will develop greater flexibility in their therapeutic approach. The session offers evidence-based techniques for maintaining therapeutic alliance during lapses and relapses, transforming challenging moments into opportunities for growth and connection.
