Dr. Lina Racicot author of “Living with the Little Devil Man” with special guest Dr. Jaime Bruno, share the presentation of “Opioids on the Brain and on the Streets”. With the lived experience of losing a loved one to a heroin overdose, Dr. Racicot connects what is happening within the brain that translates to the never expected behaviors of loved ones on the city streets. Dr. Racicot will share excerpts of the riveting stories of Sterling’s journey and many others who found themselves overtaken by addiction. Sterling’s own story teaches us many life lessons of the misunderstanding and stigma still associated with family trauma, mental health and dual diagnoses. Beyond that, there’s so much misunderstood why some and not others find themselves on the streets searching for drugs. Special guest, Dr. Bruno, walked among those who have fallen prey to this search for many years. He shares his experience without judgement in hopes of building knowledge and understanding. Together, Dr. Racicot and Dr. Bruno hope to increase the humanity, decrease the stigma and build a better day for those suffering from addiction through knowledgeable compassion.
