Biography

Carleigh A. Litteral, BS, is a dedicated researcher and Patient Engagement Specialist with a unique personal journey that fuels her commitment to addiction neuroscience. After a life-threatening neurological crisis led to brain surgery and significant recovery challenges, Carleigh turned her experience into a transformative path, entering substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and later joining the field as a specialist. Her academic journey, marked by dual bachelor's degrees in psychology and neuroscience, has been complemented by impactful research, including publications in Scientific Reports and Bipolar Disorder. Carleigh's profound personal insights and academic expertise drive her focus on unravelling the genetic and neurobiological underpinnings of SUDs. Currently pursuing graduate studies at the University of Kentucky, she continues to make a significant impact through her research and work with patients, inspiring many through her resilience and dedication.
